What is National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday? Twenty-three
years ago, the Christian Action Council Education and Ministries Fund,
which is today known as Care Net, asked President Ronald Reagan to
create a special day to focus on the intrinsic value of human life and
the fundamental right to life, as recognized by the American Founding
Fathers.
In 1983, President Reagan issued a proclamation establishing
a National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHLS). Since 1983, the SOHLS
proclamation has also been issued by Presidents George H. W. Bush and
George W. Bush. <<more>> When is SOHLS?
The
National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is held on the Sunday in January
that falls closest to the day on which the Roe v. Wade and Doe v.
Bolton decisions were handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court on January
22, 1973. How can I get involved? Each
year, individuals and churches sponsor a variety of activities and
events to commemorate SOHLS, including special prayer services, ringing
church bells, and special sermons and Sunday school lessons. In
addition to worship services, thousands of Christians petition the Lord
privately through prayer and fasting to codify the right to life in the
United States.
As a community pregnancy care center, Life Choices
Clinic has arisen to help women facing unplanned pregnancies and church
leaders have begun to encourage members of their congregations to
support our local center in a variety of ways.

Opportunities: Life Choices Clinic can provide your members with the
opportunity to be God’s hand extended to this community. By
volunteering, your members will mature spiritually, and have the
opportunity to share the gospel with those who are hurting, which in
turn will help them become better leaders within your congregation.
There are many opportunities available.
Post Abortion Workshops:
Seven out of ten women identify themselves as either Protestant or
Catholic seeks abortion. We can provide those members of your
congregation, who have suffered this trauma, with our post abortion
groups and retreats. There is hope and healing through Jesus. Opportunities
to Sow Seed into God’s Ministry: The Clinic provides the opportunity
for your congregation to reach out with God’s love by supporting the
Clinic through finances or donations of diapers and formula and other
necessities for mothers and babies. The resources sown today will not
only influence the culture of our community, but will also have eternal
reward. For more information, contact us at 746-9704.

congregation with information on the value of life according to God’s
word. These sermons/talks are presented with compassion-no condemnation
involved! Call to schedule or for referrals on talks given to other
churches. Sweet (students
with education, empowerment, and truth) Presentations: We can provide
your youth group with presentations on abstinence, relationships, and
decision-making. This program will equip your youth with the tools they
need to remain abstinent until marriage. We also provide a parent
meeting before each workshop. Pro-life 101 workshops: These
workshops will equip your congregation with the needed information to
be able to defend the pro-life position in a scientific compassionate
way. Attendees will learn to make a compelling, yet gracious
defense for the lives of the unborn in the midst of a secular culture,
even if your friends and classmates reject Scripture as a source of
authority. We can present this workshop to youth groups, small groups,
Sunday school classes, or in a church setting. Affiliates
It
may seem that abortion doesn’t affect us in our small communities, but
it actually does. Statistics indicate the likelihood that some of
your church members have walked through the doors of our clinic in need
of help and answers. Life Choices Clinic offers hope by providing
compassionate support to women, men, and families who may be afraid to
talk with anyone else. This year, we have seen 11 women who
planned to get abortions change their minds and choose life for their
babies after meeting with our peer counselors and/or getting an
ultrasound. |
